Observing

As an amateur astronomer, I grew up looking up at the stars at night. From searching for asterisms and star hopping to globular clusters with my binoculars to splitting my first double stars with a hand-built 6" reflector in high school, I feel lucky to follow my passion with a career in astrophysics. I think it is wondorous that we can learn so much about the Universe simply from collecting light (and other messengers) here on Earth, and that we can divine profound truths about the conditions and processes in distant galaxies by applying physics, mathematics, and intuition.

Experience

I have extensive experience with observations across the electromagnetic spectrum, from radio to X-rays. I use a global network of facilities for my research, including the Giant Metrewave Radio Telescope (GMRT) in India, the Australia Telescope Compact Array (ATCA) in Australia, the National Science Foundation's Karl G. Jansky Very Large Array (VLA) and the Very Long Baseline Array (VLBA) in the US, the enhanced Multi Element Remotely Linked Interferometer Network (e-MERLIN) in the UK, the Atacama Large Millimeter/Submillimeter Array (ALMA) in Chile, the European Southern Observatory (ESO) in Chile, and the Las Cumbres Observatory Global Telescope Network (LCO-GT) at sites across the world, as well as space telescopes such as the Neil Gehrels Swift Observatory, the Chandra X-ray Observatory, as well as the now-retired Spitzer Space Telescope.
